Click here for a list of events around the state. | 2. Lobby Day for Equality 2011 Update - Last week, hundreds of fair-minded Ohioans were in Columbus for the sixth annual Lobby Day for Equality. More than 200 citizen lobbyists met with 122 legislators (out of 132 -- only 10 were unwilling to hear from us). All 33 Senate districts were lobbied, and 31 of those districts were lobbied by constituents who live in the district.
During the day, the citizen lobbyists met with their legislators to urge them to pass the Equal Housing and Employment Act and a Comprehensive Safe Schools Act. The Equal Housing and Employment Act (EHEA) was passed by the Ohio House of Representatives in 2009 but was ignored by the Ohio Senate. As a result we have to begin again. Last week's efforts by citizens was the first step towards a new beginning for the EHEA.
Watch for updates and Action Alerts! We will keep you posted.
