For the Freedom to Live, Work, and Play Rally
Join Equality Ohio on September 27 at 1:30pm for a rally, press conference, and Lobby Day at the Ohio Statehouse in Columbus to support the Equal Housing and Employment Act (EHEA). Your representatives and the people of Ohio need to know that there is broad support for this bill, and your participation is very important!
On September 27, Ohio State Representatives Ross McGregor and Nickie Antonio will introduce EHEA in the House. EHEA prohibits discrimination in housing, employment and public accommodations on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity. Check the event out on facebook!
DADT Repeal Celebration!

Come celebrate the death of Don't Ask Don't Tell with your friends and family at Level Lounge Monday, September 19th at 6:30pm! This will be a great time to meet friends old and new. Help us honor those who have come before us who unfortunately are not able to see this day unfold. Help us celebrate that now we are given the opportunity to put the uniform on as open and proud members of the community.
But during this time of celebration also take note that there is still work to be done for our trans brothers and sisters who are still fighting the battle to serve openly. Check out the event onfacebook! Hosted by Equality Ohio and the HRC Columbus Steering Committee with our friends at Servicemembers Legal Defense Network.
Volunteer Spotlight

My name is Tami Manring, I’m 30 years old and I live in Franklin County. My partner and I have been together for four years, and two years ago we had a commitment ceremony. We have three four-legged kids that we like to spoil rotten. One day we hope to make our love legal here in our great State. I started volunteering for Equality Ohio about three months ago when VOL night was implemented (for those of you that don’t know VOL nights are every Thursday from 6-9pm). I have met a lot of wonderful people at Equality Ohio and value all of the friendships that have grown from VOL nights. One of my favorite quotes is “Be the change you want to see in the world.” This quote is what motivated me to volunteer at Equality Ohio. To see the change, you have to be the change—otherwise there can be no progress. I am advocating for the change I want to see.
