Saturday, September 24 11am - 8pm Northern Kentucky University's Student Union Click Here to Register for the 2011 Youth Summit The Youth Summit is an annual day-long conference consisting of workshops, speakers, social activities, a resource center and food. The focus of the day is to create a safe space for GLBTQ and allied high school and college age youth and the adults - educators, parents, advisors, youth workers, health professionals and all members of the community- who want to support in the creation of more safe spaces for youth. 2011 will be the 10th Youth Summit and new things are in store: - Workshop Tracks - Workshops have been grouped together to allow participants to focus in a specific area - High School and College Youth Organizing Tracts, Advocacy Tract, Educator Tract, Trans Tract, Power and Privilege Tract
- Open Mic Night - It will be the Youth Summit's version of a talent show! During dinner, participants will be invited to share their music, dance, spoken word, poetry, art, performances or other talents. You can perform as an individual or with a group. Throughout the afternoon, performing artists, drag kings and queens, spoken word performers, art teachers - will be available to support participants with their acts.
- Art Resource Room - Some people love to sit in workshops all day long soaking up the information, others need an occasional break. So, we are offering a resource room where youth can stop in during a session and make art, reflect or prepare for the Open Mic Talent Show.
Plus great workshops, great friends and great resources will all be back. Get all of the details at www.cincyyouthsummit.org or the Youth Summit's Facebook page. The GLBTQ Youth Summit is a program of GLSEN Greater Cincinnati, with support from PFLAG Cincinnati, Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center, Greater Cincinnati HRC and the UC LGBTQ Center. See you at the Youth Summit!
