Whether you already know you will register for Lobby Day and just want to be ready or are questioning whether or not you want to attend this year, Local Action Team Training for Lobby Day is just what you're looking for!

Join us for a Local Action Team Training and get information about the Equal Housing and Employment Act (adding sexual orientation and gender identity to the state's non-discrimination laws) and the Comprehensive Safe Schools Act, learn what progress has been made in the past year with your legislator, and practice and prepare with others from your area in advance of meeting with your representative.

On Wednesday, May 18, Equality Ohio will host the 6th Annual Lobby Day for Equality.  In the last five years, we've made great strides in educating and creating relationships with our legislators.  However, after the Equal Housing and Employment Act (EHEA) was passed in the Ohio House of Representatives but ignored in the Senate, it is more important now than ever that we keep talking, educating, and sharing our stories with our legislators - even the ones who probably will never support us.

Progress doesn't just happen.  As a community of fair-minded people we need to advocate for what we want.  Opponents of equality, like Sharonville, Ohio based Citizens for Community Values, are talking to legislators all the time, telling them that "[The Equal Housing and Employment Act is] anti-business in that [it] would subject employers to frivolous and costly lawsuits, requiring homosexuals to maintain positions in inappropriate occupations." (http://www.ccv.org/ohio-h-b-176-and-federal-enda/) among other things.  We simply can't let the voice of intolerance continue to be the message our legislators are getting day after day.

Above, you will find two Local Action Team Training locations in Northwest Ohio. Please register for the location and time that works the best for you.

If you still have not registered for Lobby Day, do so today!

Note: Although recommended, attendance at Local Action Team Training for Lobby Day is not mandatory for Lobby Day participation.
