Announcing Our New Artistic Director

Dear friends,

I am excited to announce the hiring of Dr. Casey J. Hayes as our next artistic director as we begin rehearsing for Season 21: Coming Of Age.

Casey has been assistant professor of music at Franklin College in Franklin, Ind., outside Indianapolis, since 2009, where he conducts the FC Singers, Women’s Chorus and Men’s Chorus. He previously was the music director of the New York City Gay Men’s Chorus and chair of the creative arts department of The Hewitt School, a private school for girls on Manhattan’s Upper East Side.
He received his Ph.D. in music education from New York University. He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Butler University in Indianapolis.

As you know, he is succeeding Dr. Patrick O. Coyle, who stepped down at the end of the 2010-2011 season after 16 years on the CMC podium.

"I am very proud to follow in Dr. Coyle's footsteps, and excited at the unlimited possibilities that come with conducting Cincinnati's most iconic choral ensemble,” Hayes said. “It is my hope that the CMC will continue to be a strong and visible musical representative of the Cincinnati GLBT community for many years to come."

On behalf of CMC's board of directors, I can tell you that we are thrilled to have the opportunity to work with Casey this season. His musical leadership and passion for our mission will infuse new energy into the chorus as we continue to build on the strong choral tradition Patrick helped us create.

Rehearsals for our next concert session begin on September 7th. If you or someone you know might like to sing with us, just e-mail membership@cincinnatimenschorus.org to set up an audition.

You'll find out more in the next month or so about the season ahead, but if you have not yet made a tax-deductible donation in support of our 21st season, I hope you will consider doing so today.

Thank you for being a valuable member of our audience, and thank you for supporting our mission in Cincinnati.

Warm regards,

Brian Reynolds
President, Board of Directors
