PFLAG National takes on Apple over App

Take Action! Tell Apple to Remove Anti-LGBT Apps from iTunes!

Late last week, iTunes released an iPhone application created by Exodus International, that, according to its website, is “designed to be a useful resource for men, women, parents, students, and ministry leaders.” The Exodus website further boasts that its app received a 4+ rating from Apple, meaning that it contains “no objectionable content.”

PFLAG National strongly disagrees. The mission of Exodus International – to help LGBT people see that they can “choose” to not be LGBT – is harmful. Such efforts have been condemned by every respected medical and psychological group in this country as explicitly dangerous and harmful to both physical and mental health. As such, promoting Exodus’ mission through the Exodus International app will expose the LGBT population to potential harm or violence.

As members of PFLAG, we see how LGBT kids are confronted with teasing, bullying, and physical aggression. We’ve seen, too, how many of these situations play out in our communities all across the country.
