Today we're announcing our Stories Project, what will be a multi-year oral history project. We're seeking accounts of school experiences around bullying, name-calling, coming out, being closeted, and much more.
The first phase of the Stories Project is a team service project of Public Allies Cincinnati, an AmeriCorps program that specializes in leadership development and community service. We at GLSEN Greater Cincinnati are thrilled to collaborate with this dynamic group of emerging leaders.
For the first phase of the project, a short video to debut at our Prom on Saturday, May 7 at the Contemporary Arts Center, we're seeking to compare experiences of people in high school now/in the last seven years, with experiences of those who were in school forty or more years ago.
If you're in one of those categories or are just really excited about the Stories Project, we hope you can join us for a kickoff mixer next Tuesday, February 15. We'll have activities and discussion prompts to get you thinking about your own story. (Note: we will not be filming or recording at the Mixer. That's later!)
Stories Project: Kickoff Mixer Tuesday, February 15 at 6:00 PM
Clifton Cultural Arts Center 3711 Clifton Avenue, 45220
Parking at the Clifton Cultural Arts Center is free and easy -- info and directions are here.
See the facebook event page here.
Over the next few years, there will be several more phases of the Stories Project. We want to collect accounts from the broadest possible range of Greater Cincinnati individuals and communities, to learn and be able to illustrate experiences around school climate, bullying culture, and what people in schools can do to help.
Stay tuned as we progress through the project. We want to hear from you!
