Take GLBT Survey - Help Grad Student!

posted Jan 28, 2011, 8:05 AM by Michael Chanak
My name is Paulette J. Christopher. I am a doctoral student in clinical health psychology at the University of New Mexico. I am conducting my dissertation on the effects of discrimination on the health and well-being of Lesbian, Gay, and Bisexual people. I am myself a member of the LGB community. My purpose in conducting this research is to add to the literature on the effects of discrimination on LGB people, and to eventually develop an intervention to help LGB people deal with discrimination in their lives.
I am writing to request an ad on your website and in your newsletter and anywhere else you think may be helpful for recruitment of people who are 18 years of age and older, and self-identify as lesbian, gay, or bisexual. I have the approval of the Human Research Review Committee at the University of New Mexico to conduct this research. Any help or information you can give would be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Paulette J. Christopher

Are you lesbian, gay, or bisexual?

A survey is being conducted at the University of New Mexico. The purpose of this survey is to find out about the life experiences of lesbian, gay, and bisexual people and how they relate to health and life satisfaction. The survey will ask about these experiences, ask about your health including questions about how well you get things done, pain, and any medical diagnoses you may have. It will also ask about your attitudes about your sexual orientation. Your name or any other information that may be used to identify you will not be collected.

The survey itself will take about 20-30 minutes. You will not be paid for your time. You will have to option of entering your e-mail address at the end of the survey for a drawing for one of three Visa Gift Cards (one for $100 and two for $50).

You must be at least 18 years of age to participate.
